February 2003

Dear Family & Friends,

2002 ended, 2003 began, and we're heavily aware that we have not communicated with you for over a year. In fact, look at our link to our last newsletter October 2001. It makes an interesting read because I was in a serious transition out of full-time ministry, through a few temporary jobs, now into my full-time job with Celebrate Life International. Much has changed in our lives.

This past year has also meant significant milestones for us. For instance, my mother died May 21. We want to get you all caught up on the Hammond news, so dump a bunch of coffee into your espresso maker, steam some milk, sprinkle some vanilla powder and ground cinnamon, sit back and read on...

Looking Ahead in 2003

We have great news! Two friends from our old YWAM days, Vicky Hofmann and Natasha Shure, are putting together a training program to introduce East European YWAMers to Biblical Counseling. This IBC school will be held in Kiev, Ukraine. These school leaders contacted us about teaching HFN-type material for a week in the school (first week of June)! We'd love to go! But it doesn't stop there. Also this summer is yet another YWAM Amsterdam reunion--this time in Amsterdam. We'd love to go to that, too! The more we prayed about these opportunities, the more we sensed God's generous heart. The more we thought about our family, the more we wanted to include Sarah, Daniel and Naomi. It'd be a trip of a lifetime for our older two to see their birthplace again; maybe even catch a vision for ministering to Europe in some way. The Lord knows how to stir hearts.

The way we see it, we'd fly to Amsterdam, the kids would stay with friends while Rhonie and I fly to Kiev to teach. Then back to Amsterdam for the reunion for the second week of June, and finally we'd return home.

Here is where you come in. We've been out of the active fundraising mode for more than a year, but this trip falls totally on our shoulders to pay for. The IBC can raise a token amount of the travel costs for us, but we need to see $4,300 come in for us all to go. As of February 9, we have about $1,930 accounted for! Praise God! Is God stirring your heart about this need? Please pray about it and obey His leading. Thank you so much! Email us if you are prompted to support us.

Your prayers are precious to us; YOU are precious to us! Write anytime.

God bless,

Steve, Rhonie, Naomi, Daniel and Sarah
